From there, we visit Somrong Knong Pagoda, a historic site that was once converted into a prison during the Khmer Rouge era. Your guide will share the emotional history of this space, giving you a deeper understanding of Cambodia’s past.

We then stop at a family who makes bamboo sticky rice cakes (Kralan). You’ll watch how this traditional snack is prepared over open fire, learn about its origins, and enjoy a freshly made sample.

Our journey continues to Don Teav village, known for crafting delicate rice paper sheets. You’ll visit a family workshop, try your hand at making spring rolls using freshly made rice paper, and taste the result. We also explore how sun-dried bananas are naturally preserved, a favorite Cambodian snack and hear how families have passed down this technique for generations.

To end the morning, we returned to Battambang town for lunch at Lok Ov Pok, a restaurant committed to preserving and sharing traditional Khmer cuisine. You’ll enjoy a variety of classic dishes, learn about the ingredients used, and discover the stories behind the recipes.
