This immersive food and culture journey with Skual Tours is designed for travelers who want to understand Cambodia through its food, families, and living traditions. The experience begins in Ta Kok Village with a traditional rice noodle breakfast, where guests enjoy Kuy Teav beautifully served on lotus leaves at a beloved local restaurant. Guided by your local host, you’ll learn about the ingredients, flavors, and customs behind this everyday Cambodian meal before stepping into a vibrant local market to explore fresh produce, herbs, and the heart of Khmer cooking culture.

From the market, the journey continues on foot into a nearby Muslim village, where guests gain rare insight into Cambodia’s Muslim community, their traditions, and we will have an opportunity to try some of muslim snacks along the way. Along peaceful village lanes, you’ll sample local snacks and hear stories that reveal the deep history and identity of this unique community. Afterward, enjoy a relaxing coffee break at a local café and taste Cambodia’s famous iced coffee, a daily ritual shaped by French and Vietnamese influences.

The tour then travels into the countryside to visit a vegetable farm in Prek K’porp Village, where a local family shares their agricultural life, hard work, and hopes for the next generation. A second family visit offers a meaningful cultural exchange, where one is passionate about traditional Khmer wooden houses and the importance of preserving Cambodia’s architectural heritage, followed by a tasting of fresh seasonal fruits..

The journey concludes back in town with a relaxing lunch at Lok Ov Pok Restaurant, a restaurant dedicated to preserving traditional Khmer cuisine. Guests enjoy a family-style meal featuring their signature pork stew and other classic Cambodian dishes.

  • Stop 1: Rice Noodle Breakfast at Ta Kok Village: Rice Noodle Breakfast at Ta Kok Village: Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Ta Kok village, where your morning begins with a taste of Kuy Teav, Cambodia’s beloved steamed rice noodles beautifully served on lotus leaves. We’ll enjoy breakfast at Lotus leaves noodle soup restaurant, a local favourite. Your guide will help order for you, explain the ingredients, and show you how locals eat it.

  • Stop 2: Local Market Exploration: After breakfast, we will walk around a local market to witness how Cambodians shop, prepare ingredients, and connect as a community. Your guide will lead you through the fresh produce section, introducing key herbs and vegetables used in Khmer cooking and sharing stories along the way.

  • Stop 3: Muslim Village Walk: After exploring the market, we’ll stroll to a nearby Muslim village. As we wander through its peaceful lanes, your guide will share fascinating stories about Cambodia’s Muslim community, their unique traditions, and deep-rooted history. Along the way, we’ll sample local snacks and get a taste of popular muslim snacks. This village walk will take around 30 minutes and offer a rare glimpse of Cambodia muslim that many travelers miss.

  • Stop 4: Coffee Break: After visiting a farmer family in a rural area, we’ll take you to a beloved local coffee spot. Coffee has been part of Cambodian life since it was introduced by the French and Vietnamese, and today it’s a daily ritual. Here, you’ll try the classic Cambodian iced coffee with condensed milk, sweet, and a favorite across the country.

  • Stop 5: Visit to a Vegetable Farm: Next, we’ll hop on our tuk-tuk and ride to Prek k’porp Village to meet a local farmer. On their farm, you’ll learn about rural life, see how vegetables and herbs are grown, and hear the family’s stories of their hard work and hope for the future generation. It’s a chance to connect with Cambodians and understand about agriculture in Cambodia.

  • Stop 6: Local Fruit Tasting: After our journey through the village, we’ll visit another family who is deeply passionate about preserving Cambodia’s cultural traditions. The father, in particular, has a strong love for traditional wooden houses and fears that this architectural heritage may fade away from this country. He worries that they may disappear for many reasons from the influence of modern architecture to the younger generation’s lack of understanding of their cultural value. During our 45-minute visit, you’ll hear his stories, learn about the meaning behind traditional Khmer houses, and enjoy tasting a variety of fresh, seasonal fruits from the family’s garden.

  • Stop 7: Lunch at Lok Ov Pok Restaurant: To finish the morning, we return to town for a relaxing lunch at Lok Ov Pok Restaurant, known for its dedication to preserving traditional Khmer cuisine. Enjoy a thoughtfully selected family-style meal, including their signature pork stew and other classic Cambodian dishes.

  • Food & Dietary Requirements: This tour includes meals and tastings at local family-run eateries and village homes, where traditional cooking methods and ingredients are used. While we do our best to accommodate vegetarian guests, we cannot guarantee fully vegetarian or vegan options at every stop, as fish sauce and animal-based products are commonly used and not always clearly indicated.

    If you follow a strict vegetarian or vegan diet, please contact us before booking. We’re happy to discuss what’s possible and whether this experience is the right fit for you.

  • Note: Our Tuk Tuk driver will pick you up from your hotel to the meeting point and they will bring you back to your hotel from the last stop of the tour. You can always talk to your guide if you have other preference
