This walk tour is a unique journey that uncovers Battambang stories. You will hear fascinating tales about the city from colonial architecture to art and culture. This tour will take around 4 hours in total. This tour has 5 stops including an art gallery and old pagoda and art street.
About the experience
Your tour starts at Wat Kandal Pagoda, a historic Buddhist temple built in 1813, known for its beautiful art styles and decoration. This tour also includes the riverside walk where you will enjoy a peaceful riverside walk along the Sangke River, offering scenic views and a glimpse into local life. Next stop, which is another interesting stop, is Peace Nagar Park. At Peace Nagar, learn about Cambodia’s journey to peace and the significance of the naga sculptures as symbols of prosperity and reconciliation. We will also explore Street 2.5, a vibrant area filled with street art created during annual art festivals, highlighting Battambang’s reputation as Cambodia’s art hub. We will finish our walk tour at Nat market, a historic marketplace from the French Indochina era, where your guide will explain its unique architectural style and cultural importance. At the end of the tour we will go to Kontrok Bar, a unique local spot in Battambang, known for serving the best cocktails in town. Inspired by the city’s beautiful colonial buildings.

Your guide will take you on a tour around the pagoda, showing you its most beautiful spots and explaining their significance.
Stop 2 : Riverside walk : The Sangke River is Battambang's main river, flowing from the Thai border to Tonlé Sap Lake. It’s a popular spot for locals to hang out, exercise, and enjoy the scenery. During our walk along the river, you’ll find beautiful spots to take photos or stop and chat. This leisurely stroll offers a chance to experience the charm of Battambang and get a glimpse of the city’s vibrant life.
Stop 3 : Peace Nagar: Many visitors to Battambang might pass by this place without knowing its story. This is Peace Nagar, a symbol of peace and reconciliation in Cambodia. The sculptures of the naga here represent prosperity and development. Your guide will share the history of Battambang during Cambodia's civil war in the 1980s-1990s and explain the significance of this naga as a reminder of the country's journey towards peace and unity after the decade of civil war.

Stop 4 : Street Art on Street 2.5: Street Art is the name given to this area after annual art festivals have been held here. These festivals include the Sa’art Urban Art Festival, Chumno Art Festival, and Ti Ni Ti Nu Art Festival. As we walk along Street 2.5, we’ll stop to admire murals painted by local artists. These artworks celebrate Battambang’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. Your guide will share the stories behind the art and explain why Battambang is known as the centre of art in Cambodia. Stop 5 : Banque de l’Indochine, an architectural gem from the Indochina period in Battambang. Originally established as Banque de l’Indochine in 1902 during French colonial rule. Its classic European-style design, historic role, and preserved condition make it a must-see icon along the riverfront heritage district. This striking yellow building served as the Battambang branch of the National Bank of Cambodia from 2009 until 2019.
Stop 6 : Kontrok Bar is a unique local spot in Battambang, known for serving the best cocktails in town. Inspired by the city’s beautiful colonial buildings. We’ll end our tour here with a delicious cocktail, enjoying the cozy setting and reflecting on our journey through
Important info that guests should know before the tour
Our Tuk Tuk driver will pick you up from your hotel to the meeting point and they will bring you back to your hotel from the last stop of the tour. You can always talk to your guide if you have other preference
You should have your day back-page that includes hat, fan, sunscreen, water bottle, insect repellent and your camera because there will be a good spot for photos so bring your camera.
You need to wear long sleeves and closed toe shoes because that can help you to avoid heat and insects.
We will be visiting the pagoda as well so we require you to wear appropriate clothing covering knees and shoulders.
This walk tour will walk in the city so traffic is busy, encourage you to follow your guide's instructions and reach out to them if you need things specific such as crossing roads for photos etc while we are walking.
